Life with Loki

One slightly crazy girls life with her crazy puppy.
Chronicling adventures in knitting, cooking, dog walking, a new love of martial arts, all kinds of ginger hair and other random stuff.
In this blog I post new fiction, reblog photos, post quotes that resonate with me and other general stuff.

Hoping to have start a few more specific blogs soon :)

Wish I had a Callie/Mark relationship (minus the sex part just the super close friendship) with a guy.

I know which guy as well but he doesn’t watch Grey’s so he’d never get the reference. Just a dude who you can be 100% yourself with without worrying if he’s checking out your rack.

That is all.

I find myself wondering again why women are so uninterested in learning to defend themselves. Are we conditioned from a young age to expect “a man” to protect us? What about the times when we’re alone and there’s no one to protect us? What are we meant to do there? Just allow ourselves to be attacked, raped or even killed because of our own lack of interest?

I mean are we just meant to take the bull shit in our stride? Allowing people to harass us in the street or our partners to dominate or talk down to us. Are we supposed to be good girls and just let people do whatever they want? After all we’re told that girls are meant to be soft, gentle and kind creatures who never get angry. If we do have strong feelings 50% of the time we are gas lighted and told to be quiet. To calm down. To accept it.

Well. I refuse to.
I for one am completely sick and tired of hearing of more violence against people. More rapes. More murders. I sit and wonder of all the attacks on women I read about how many times the attacker was someone she expected to protect. Well, fuck that. I’d rather know how to protect myself or develop awareness so I can get out of there before I come to harm.

It’s about time, we, the female population of Edinburgh (of Scotland or Europe or where ever) stand up and learn how to look after ourselves and each other.

There is nothing unladylike or unfeminine about knowing how to get yourself out of a dangerous situation. Nothing at all. It’s about knowing how to save a life. Your own.

And the bruises from training? Well, bruises are badges. Just buy a good concealer. ;)

A little girl seeks revenge, but a real woman moves on while karma does the dirty work.

Good mantra.

Truth.

Had to hook Evie up as well….
There’s 5 little tops those 2, 2 lemon ones with “it’s fun being a girl” “hug magnet” and a wee pink one saying “Someone has to be this cute”.
Love cheeky wee kids tops :D
