One being I was too busy planning the next big step in my life. As much as I love Edinburgh every street has spectres lurking. Old memories, friends who are no longer here… Stuff I would rather forget. I also realised we are all equipped with wings and to not use them well, that’s a crying shame.
I decided to “Go offline” for a while. I withdrew into myself and held a mirror up. I made some difficult choices. Decided when I didn’t know where I stood with certain people it was time to stop standing around wondering and start walking.
So I did. No Regrets. Not whispering to jerks any more and it’s a good look.
We need to stop pitting girls against each other. We need to stop giving validation to novels and films that fetishize girls who say they “aren’t like other girls” as if there’s something inherently wrong with being a girl. We need to stop perpetuating the fallacy of the mythical “other girls” who all fit some made up stereotype that we teach our girls to be afraid of because “the right guys” don’t actually like “that kind of girl”. “That kind of girl” doesn’t exist, because girls are people and not objects that come in bulk.
